The sound of Bluesette (named after Toots Thielemans' famous song) can be summed up as French café music, spanning Bossa Nova, jazz standards, and chansons françaises. With poetic songs and abundant nature imagery, our repertoire ranges from slightly melancholic to playfully rhythmic.
Antoine Langlais began playing the family piano at an early age and in his teens discovered a love for jazz, blues and soul. Over the subsequent years he has developed a playing style that has been influenced by pianists such as Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Jools Holland, Dr. John and Christian Sands. Antoine has accompanied a range of singers across a variety of settings, as well as played in a number of jazz, soul and rock bands in Europe and the United States. Whilst he loves performing solo piano, he feels most inspired when collaborating with other musicians and vocalists.
Adèle Martin is a native French speaker from Belgium, classically trained in music and voice from an early age. Her passion for singing was ignited early on, listening to her mother, an accomplished singer, sing extensively in France and Belgium. Having grown up speaking French, English, Dutch, German and learning Spanish, she has a love of languages and loves communicating the soul of other cultures through them. While studying French and German at the University of Cambridge, England, she sang with the Trinity Singers at Trinity College, Kings SingeRs at King's College, Cambridge, and with an a capella trio in Germany. She returned last year from a year in Provence, France where she performed at the Legarde Paréol festival.
